Amy Israel’s career spans continents and sectors, where she forges powerful coalitions and leverages evidence to drive better health outcomes. As Senior Advisor for UICC’s Access to Oncology Medicines Coalition, she enabled access to 70+ generic, biosimilar, and innovative cancer medicines across low- and middle-income countries in under a year. Previously, as Vice President and Global Head of Oncology Policy & Health Systems at Novartis, Amy pioneered award-winning strategies that improved cancer care in 60+ countries and broke down systemic barriers to access for all assets in pre-launch planning. At Eli Lilly, she launched multi-million-dollar partnerships spanning eight countries, scaling health innovations to reach millions and generating over 100 partner peer-reviewed publications. Earlier, Israel spearheaded transformative health systems initiatives in dozens of countries on behalf of nonprofit, international organisations or governments, from creating women’s micro-enterprises in Mexico to addressing drug-resistant tuberculosis in South Africa. She has held numerous advisory roles with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the World Health Organization, NCD Alliance, and former Executive Committee member of the Global Health Council Board of Directors. She is a current Executive Committee and Board member of ICASO and serves on the Strategic Advisory Council of the Texas Biomedical Research Institute. Israel holds a Master of Social Work in Community Organizing from the University of Michigan.
