Dr. George Magrath is the Chief Executive Officer and a Board Member of Opus Genetics. A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Magrath brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and deep experience in business and finance. Prior to joining Opus Genetics, Dr. Magrath served as CEO of Lexitas Pharma Services, a leading contract research organization specializing in ophthalmology. Under his leadership, Lexitas experienced significant growth in headcount, expanded its service offerings including the launch of an image reading center and made a strategic shift into retinal disease research. The company was acquired by a top-tier private equity firm during his tenure. Earlier in his career, Dr. Magrath was Medical Director at Hovione, where he contributed to the development of proprietary assets across ophthalmology, dermatology, and respiratory therapeutics. He began his professional journey as an equity analyst at Edison Investment Research, covering small- and mid-cap pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Dr. Magrath holds a Master of Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University, an MBA from The Citadel, and an MD from the Medical University of South Carolina.
