Joe Buccina is the Policy and Research Director for the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB). He leads the Policy and Research Team at NSCEB, which is charged with conducting a thorough review of how advancements in emerging biotechnology and related technologies will shape current and future activities of the Department of Defense. Prior to NSCEB, Joe was Managing Director, Federal Services at Cogitativo, an AI and health data startup company. He also spent six years at In-Q-Tel, a strategic investor for the National Security Community, where he was Director at B.Next and a Senior Program Manager. Joe’s earlier work experience includes biodefense and pharma consulting at PwC and biosurveillance work at Veratect. Joe has an MS in Bioinformatics and an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University; he attended Williams College for his BA.
