Dr. Mimi Lee joined ARPA-H in July 2024. Lee is a physician-scientist with deeply immersive experiences in academic and community practice, biotech and pharma. Over the past decade, she has engaged in global leadership roles in rare disease genetic medicines development at BioMarin and Avexis – Novartis, contributing to two of the earliest approved therapies. Firsthand knowledge of myriad challenges developing and commercializing genetic medicines within an ecosystem evolved to enable non-genetic modalities inspired her to join ARPA-H to help overcome systemic hurdles and enable a robust market to more forward more efficiently, ultimately to bring more treatments to more people sooner. Lee holds an M.D.-Ph.D from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has trained in Neurological Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine and in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at the University of California San Francisco. She is also a long-time cancer survivor, informed by personal experiences as a patient navigating the complexities of a life-threatening diagnosis. Her passion is co-creating with cross-functional, multi-disciplinary experts centrally aligned with the mission of bringing groundbreaking technologies to patients in need safely, efficiently and ethically.
