With a passion for helping kids, Dr. Robyn Riseberg has dedicated her career to connecting with and caring for kids and families with the highest needs. She is the Founder of Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP), the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts and one of the first in the country. Her primary interests are working with underserved and high-risk pediatric patients and communities and bringing innovative programs to medicine. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, UMass Medical School (where she received numerous awards and was an Albert Schweitzer fellow), and the Boston Combined Residency Program (Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center). Dr. Riseberg was the head of pediatrics at the South End Community Health Center (SECHC) and the Founding Medical Director of the School-Based Health Center at the Blackstone Elementary School at the Dr. Gerald Hass Center in the South End. For the past 19 years, she has been providing direct service to this population, so she is intimately familiar with where there is greatest need. In 2024, BCP received the Excellence in Innovation award from the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. Prior to this, Dr. Riseberg received an Extraordinary Women Advancing Healthcare award given by The Women's Edge’s (formerly The Commonwealth Institute) for her outstanding career achievements and impact. In 2020, she was recognized for her work on behalf of children in the community as a recipient of the distinguished Boston Children’s Hospital Award of Service to Pediatrics and the Community. For many years, from 2010-2019, she co-facilitated the course on Humanism in Medicine for interns in the Boston Combined Residency Program and precepted Harvard Medical School students in their Introduction to Clinical Medicine course. She was on the Board of Directors at Casa Myrna Vazquez for over six years and is currently on the National Advisory Council for Room to Grow. In addition, she is the health care consultant for many early childcare organizations and camps in the South End including Ellis Early Learning, USES, Castle Square, YES, PBHA Keylatch Summer Urban Program and others. Boston Community Pediatrics is the culmination and result of Dr. Riseberg’s entire career of direct service to underserved families and brings the highest level of quality service to pediatric patients and their families no matter their financial situation or insurance coverage.
